Nicoleta Avgousti is a visual artist and art educator living in Cyprus. She is working with a range of techniques and media, with a focus on video art and mixed media techniques. She had one solo and one duo exhibition, and numerous participations in group exhibitions and festivals in Cyprus and abroad. Her latest videos and mixed media collages were selected to be shown at Pafos2017 European Cultural Capital art events. Segments from her collaborative video work Memory of Death with Katia Savvides were selected for a video collage presented at the Cyprus Pavilion I am where you are, 16th Architectural Biennale of Venice, Italy, 2018. She co-curated with Katia Savvides an event dedicated to video art with the participation of thirteen artists, a parallel event of the Larnaca Biennale 2018.

 

She works as an art education Advisor and Curriculum Officer for the Primary Education Department of Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, and as an art educator in primary schools. She coordinates European programmes promoting contemporary art in primary education. She has taught at the University of Cyprus. Currently she collaborates with European University Cyprus as a Special Scientist, and occasionally with Middlesex University London and the University of the People. For her doctorate degree she investigated video art practices of contemporary Cypriot artists and the potentials of approaching video art in the art classroom. She served on the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts and she is a member of numerous professional organisations.
